Note: Thanks to Tammy Bell, Rosemary Souza-Botten and Jack Prim for your great work on this!

With no new business, a motion was made to adjourn the Annual Meeting by PP Steve Frederick.

Club Assembly
“This portion of the meeting is dedicated largely to the work you have done as a club, said President Bonnie Black. “You have looked at the future of the club, taken it into your hands and run with it in the last five months.” She applauded the Board members for their energy and attendance at meetings.

Marsha Cook thanked Don Moore and Bob Frenyea for their help with club finances this year, which are now officially in compliance with RI requirements.

PP Steve Frederick announced that the club is very close to meeting the $2,000 Polio Plus goal. We have collected over $1,700 so far!

Colin Read has been revitalizing the Rotaract program. Students are taking interest, and he is expanding information on a Facebook page.

This Week:

  • The Food Shelf will be held Dec. 23, not the 30th, because the club is not meeting on the 30th.
We are also collecting for the Christmas Bureau. Don’t have your gift this week? Bring it next week—unwrapped with your child’s name on it.
  • Peter Cadieux explained his involvement with Santa Night which is Dec. 11 this year. Volunteers will get on a bus and tour the Plattsburgh area bars asking for donations for the Christmas Bureau. Last year, they raised $25,000 with the help of Christmas CDs.

Auction Items: Gil Zhan donated 3 pairs of tickets for this weekend’s performances by Champlain Valley Voices and the SUNY Plattsburgh Choral Union. Peter Cadieux picked up a pair for $12 while Mary Anne Bukolt-Ryder and Bob Smith each received a pair for $10.

Visiting Rotarians: Bob Hanna, Lake Placid

Guests: Peter Grosskopf (John Seiden), Daniella Raymond (Colin Read), Courtney Chandler (Brian Hammond) and Amanda Palmer (John Prim).

Bonnie’s Bucks:

  • Stan Ransom was thrilled to make a trip to Hartman Theater last weekend for this year’s production of “The Nutcracker.” He thanked Bonnie Black, Associate Artistic Director, for her part in a wonderful performance.
  • Carmen Carpentier was pleased to announce that Lake Forest celebrated its 10th year. Their wait list is currently 2-5 years!
  • Leigh Mundy said the North Country Cultural Center for the Arts will be decorating the tree in front of the Federal Building and holding an event on Saturday, Dec. 19. Bulbs are being sponsored by area businesses for $50, and in return they are given to an artist to decorate.
  • Keith Tyo went to Philly to watch his son run in the Philadelphia Marathon. There were 7,500 runners and he came in 295th at 3hrs, 4min and 49 sec. It qualifies him for the Boston Marathon, but is unable to run it this year because its already full.
  • Bill Rowe announced that tomorrow (Dec. 3) is First Thursday at Irises. Also, yesterday was he and Bunny’s 46th Anniversary.
  • Corn Forrence recognized everyone who helped ring the bell for the Salvation Army last weekend.
  • Kevin Killeen (in regard to Bill Rowe misspeaking the date of First Thursday): “Bill– It’s too bad they don’t have any room for you at Lake Forrest. I’m not sure you’re well enough to go there.”
  • Carmen Carpentier: “Bill, you’re welcome at Lake Forest any time!”
  • Ellie Murray had $6 for each year she has been a club member and $4 for thanking Cathy Forget for taking over her role with the Rotary Store.

Fines: Paul Grasso spun the wheel to obtain his set of keys he misplaced. It costs him $4.

50/50: We’re going for the Ace of Spades and starting with a new deck this week. The pot is worth $500, and Jim Judkins drew the 5 of Clubs.

Another Candle Burning For: Don Anderson (12/6) and Erik Eaglefeather (12/7).

Courtney Chandler, the club’s new club member, talks with Allen Booth at the end of the meeting. Courtney is sponsored by Brian Hammond (center).
Welcome Courtney!
