PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
We have started into a new year. With the new year comes a sense of renewed optimism and hope. Certainly, the past year was challenging, economically, politically, and emotionally for many. However, our region had a good fortune that others may not have enjoyed. While our region's unemployment rate rose, it did not rise as much as it had in other communities. In these times, it is important for us to remember the difficulties faced in some communities and by some clubs. Our club enjoyed a wonderful 2010. We embarked on a major new community event that was a resounding success right out of the box. This participation in our region's annual Battle of Plattsburgh event was a lot of fun for our community and allowed us to raise thousands of dollars for our local projects. Perhaps the most reassuring aspect of this event was the broad participation of a majority of our members. When this club calls for support, its members stand up, time and time again. And they have fun doing it! This is also the year our club, and our other Rotary partners in our region, will sponsor the District 7040 Conference. Our theme, "Bringing in the Harvest," coincides with our annual apple and grape harvest in the region, but also symbolizes how rotary clubs everywhere tap the talents of our communities to make our communities better. I hope 2011 will be a good year for you all. I trust it will be a good year for Plattsburgh and for the Rotary Club of Plattsburgh. P.S.
